Monthly Events and Activities
All community social events and classes have been cancelled until further notice.
Avoiding gatherings of large groups of people and practicing “social distancing” will help prevent the chance of spreading COVID-19.
In addition, amenities and common areas will be closed until further notice.
These amenities include, but are not limited to: Ballroom, Ballroom Lounge and Restrooms, Fellowship Hall, Senior Citizens Office, Poker Room, Library, Billiards Room, Art and Sewing Rooms, Fitness Center, Resident and Guest Pools and Restrooms, Dog Parks, Golfer’s Lounge, and Business Center.
Laundry Rooms will remain open for use.
Annual Health Fair
This event is open to the community and has become very meaningful to seniors across the region. The County Health Department furnishes free flu shots, which is a large draw. In addition there are a number of health related tests available, many of them life-saving. Our local veterinarian provides free vaccinations for residents’ pets. Residents have the opportunity to request information from over 60 agencies and health care professionals. Breakfast and lunch served for approximately 1000 people is provided by the County Supervisor’s office.
Dances & Parties
Residents love to celebrate holidays with dances. Every year we sponsor a Luau, Valentines Dance, Country Western Line Dance, bopping to the 50’s, Halloween Costume Dance, A Veterans Dinner Dance and a very large New Year’s Eve Celebration.
In between dances residents enjoy Wine & Cheese Socials, indoor and outdoor concerts, and special plans for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Because it is important for residents to enjoy their grandchildren, every year we sponsor a Bunny Hop, Brunch with Santa, and A Fall Festival – in addition to our July 4th celebration. There are a number of summer barbeques, luncheons, Health and Safety seminars and so much more!
July 4th Celebration
This annual family event, open to the community, is one of the largest celebrations in the area. It includes an Opening Flag Ceremony, a military plane flyover, helicopter landing, main street parade, hotdogs and refreshments, a live band, games and clowns, pony rides, a petting zoo and water slides for the grandchildren – all at no charge. Approximately 5000 people, including elected officials and community leader, attend this event every year.
This event, commemorating a significant time in African American history, is celebrated in June with games, entertainment, educational readings, music, dancing and home cooked fare. This event is sponsored by the Bid Whist Club.
National Night Out Against Crime
This annual event is also open to the community. Residents have the opportunity to learn crime prevention in addition to viewing demonstrations by the K-9 team, the mounted posse, the bomb sniffing dog and various presentations by the police and fire departments. Hot dogs and refreshments are served while residents combine music and laughter with much meaningful information.
No One Eats Alone
Because a number of Country Village residents are not able to join their family members or friends on Thanksgiving Day, we are serve a traditional holiday dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Residents who would otherwise have to eat alone are welcome to join us for turkey, stuffing and all of the traditional meal favorites, including pumpkin pie! In addition, entertainment is provided. This is an opportunity to join neighbors and friends to celebrate this meaningful holiday.
